Free Public Skating 2-3PM at Dick Ellis 2010-03-15
THE HELMETS FOR KIDS COALITION: Wants to raise awareness about the importance of children wearing a CSA approved hockey helmet during recreational skating activities to reduce the risk of head injuries. A hockey helmet is the only approved helmet for falls on ice surface. Helmets with facemasks are preferable as the majority of ice skating-related falls are forward and thus expose the face to injury. With the support of the Government of Ontario, the Helmets for Kids coalition have organized six free public skating events in Belleville arenas during the March Break. A helmet-lending program will also be available at participating arenas for kids that do not have a suitable helmet or who may have forgotten to bring their helmet.
