Coaching Staff

The Bearcat Association would like to thank the following individuals who have chosen to give of their time and talents to help coach the girls within our association.

 2010-2011 Rep team Coaches

Novice-  Kelly Sage
Kelly is returning to coach for her 3rd yr with our association. Her Novice C team competed strongly and advanced to the Provincials this season. Kelly plays competitively for our Senior BB team and has an impressive background in hockey that includes playing at the NWHl & NCAA Division I University levels.

Atom A- Shane Hoskin
Shane is returning to our association, moving up from Atom C. Shane's team finished first in their Lower Lakes loop for the season and made it to the semi-final round of Provincials. Shane played competitive Junior A hockey with the London Knights. Over the years Shane has coached Tyke & Timbit hockey with BMHA and instructs Power Skating sessions for the City of Belleville (you might even see him driving a zamboni). 

PeeWee A- Troy Sweet
Troy is returning to coach, moving up from Atom A. The Atom A team had an impressive season, finishing in the quarter finals of the Provincials. Troy has played competitively at the Junior A level. This will be Troy's 3rd season with the Bearcats. Troy's positive coaching philosophy is reflected with glowing player/parent evaluations. 

Bantam AA- Hope Lemieux
Hope is a new head coach this season. She was a member of the Bantam AA coaching staff last season and has a lot of enthusiasm for the upcoming season. Hope is a hockey player herself and has been on the bench for many seasons.

Midget AA- Rob Bunton
Rob has been a valued member of our association for many years, serving as coaching mentor and head coach of our Bantam AA team. Rob's team had a stellar year, with 10 players being chosen for the Ontario Winter Games, as well as finishing 2nd in the Lower Lakes League and then ending the season playing in the Provincials. Rob has played both University and Junior hockey and has an impressive hockey background as the current head operator of the Hockey Canada Skills Academy at St. Theresa High School & as Head Instructor OHL Belleville Bulls Hockey Camps.  Rob has numerous honours and titles to his name and has obtained Advanced Level Coach certification (developmental 2).

Midget A- Bob Howe
Bob is a dedicated hockey coach returning to coach after his own daughter has moved on to University. As a member of our association for 12 consecutive years, Bob has an impressive background as head coach and/or assistant coach for the last several years. His teams have won many tournaments and qualified for provincials this season as well as back to back 2007-2009. Bob has a knack for motivating and communicating with his players as well as a positive outlook that has earned him many positive commendations from his teams year after year. 

Atom B- Meaghan O'Shaugnessy
Meaghan is a new coach. She is a College student and hockey player (formerly played with Oshawa Lady Generals and hoping to join our Sr.A team this season). She was previously an assistant on the Bantam BB Bearcats and has worked with various hockey schools and camps. She is very qualified and we think the young players will love her. Some of her credentials include: M-Power Hockey with Mandy Cronin/ Instructed the Parks & Rec power skating in 2007/ Peer tutor for the Hockey Academy at St.Theresa's/ volunteered for Total Hockey Girls March Break Camp with Sommer West/ volunteered many years for John Boultbee's power skating & volunteered for many hockey teams in the Belleville & Oshawa area.

Peewee BB-Bruce Bell
Bruce is a new head coach to the Bearcats, but comes with lots of coaching experience! Bruce played at the Junior A level and has several yrs experience coaching boys teams. He also coaches mixed boys/girls ball hockey and has an impressive coaching background. Bruce is well known in the sporting community, we welcome his experience and enthusiasm.
