NOVICE REP PROGRAM EFFECTIVE 2019-20 UPDATE

UPDATE:  We got clarification from OWHA and Hockey Canada re whether we can do Novice Tryouts this Spring or not......their decision is based on the fact that since most organizations had already made plans to run these tryouts for the Spring 2019 that Hockey Canada and OWHA would allow the Novice tryouts from this spring only.
 
The Bearcats will therefore be running two tryouts for our Novice age group...
Sunday April 28, 2019 11:00 AM 12:00 PM FDC
Saturday May 4, 2019 10:00 AM 11:00 AM FDC
COACH: We are also in the process of securing a coach for the 2019-20 Novice Rep team 
However: a reminder that Novice Rep for 2019-20 will not be the same as it was in 2018-19..the new Novice Development Program comes into effect...see below

Novice Age 7:
Requirements: uses 4 oz. blue pucks 

  • No tryouts from April to August 
  • tryouts to begin after Labour Day
  • must provide a minimum of 4 skates before formal tryouts
  • tryouts must be a minimum of 3 sessions (skill session, small area game session and formal game)
  • no elimination style playoffs
  • no full time goalies, must rotate players through all positions
  • mandatory half ice games

Novice Age 8:
Requirements: uses 4 oz. blue pucks first half/regulation 6 oz. black puck for second half 

  • No tryouts from April to August
  • tryouts to begin after Labour Day
  • must provide a minimum of 4 skates before formal tryouts
  • tryouts must be a minimum of 3 sessions (skill session, small area game session and formal game)
  • no elimination style playoffs
  • mandatory half ice games. Full ice games, tournaments permitted after Jan 15th.
