Spry Site Supervision Atom A Bearcats win second straight tournament medal

One week after grabbing gold at the Markham Starsfest, the Spry Site Supervision Ltd. atom A Belleville Bearcats have added another tournament medal to their mantle.

Bearcats (14-2-1 overall so far this season) captured the silver medal at the annual Oshawa girls rep hockey tournament last weekend in The Motor City. Bearcats finished with a 4-2 record, losing only to Peterborough 2-0 in the round robin and again to the same Ice Cats squad, 3-1, in the championship game.


Here's a recap:
• Gold medal match
Peyton Cormier posted Belleville to a quick 1-0 lead, but Peterborough scored the next three unanswered. Brylie Renaud was in net for the Bearcats.
• Semi-finals
Lacey Clement registered the shutout as Bearcats tamed the Whitby Wolves 1-0 in the championship semi-final round. An exciting tilt went into an overtime shootout, with a successful shot by Belleville's Annaka Hoover proving to be the difference.
• Round-robin
After winning their first three games, Bearcats couldn't find the offence in a 2-0 loss to Peterborough to determine first-place in the round-robin. Brylie Renaud was in net.
In their first meeting with Whitby, the Bearcats were 2-0 winners on goals by Peyton Cormier and Jerika Spry. Lacey Clement recorded the shutout.
Jerika Spry (2), Peyton Cormier, Dylan Trickey, Mykelti Potts and Taylor Wood scored for Belleville in a 6-1 romp over the Brock Badgers. Brylie Renaud was in goal.
Belleville opened the tournament by dunking the Scarborough Sharks 4-0. Scoring for the Bearcats were Peyton Cormier (2), Alex Dewar and Dylan Trickey. Picking up assists were Tori Neuman, Jerika Spry, Mykelti Potts, Dewar and Cormier. In net for the shutout was Lacey Clement.
Other team members are: Maddy Geen, Claire Rathwell, Ainsley Phillips, Tsyorasehstha Brant, Jenna Nieman and Rowynn Cochrane. Coaches are John Hoskin, Eve Hoskin, Joe Belanger, Clint Cochrane and Jason Lapalm
