Busters, took both games against Cornwall in another double header
Saturday in Frankford.
Peyton Cormier opened the scoring in the first with a high shot from the corner, unassisted. Emily Moore potted one of her own before the first period ended, assisted by Siyerra Vandewal to give the Lady Dukes a 2-0 lead. Deep in the second Sydnie Johnston's hard low shot from the point found its way through the traffic and into the back of the net, assisted by Maci Davis and Taylor Adams, to increase the lead and finish the game with a 3-0 win. Addy Cochrane stonewalled Cornwall to turn away 21 shots and earn her second shutout of the season.
After an afternoon of rest the two teams hit the ice in a more intense matchup. With the dying seconds of the first ticking away Peyton Armstrong danced around the Cornwall defense and flicked it top shelf, assisted by Davis and Adams, to put the Lady Dukes on the scoreboard. Early minutes in the second period saw Adams score a beauty of her own, assisted by Moore and Abigail Hicks to increase the lead by 2. With what would be the game winning goal Hicks backhanded a bar down shot to stun the netminder, assisted by Makenzi Jones and Johnston. Cornwall stormed back with one of their own to end the second with a 3-1 lead for the Lady Dukes. Early in the third Cornwall closed the gap to one leaving the fans on the edge of their seats for the remaining 12 minutes of the game. Lady Dukes held on for the 3-2 win with some huge key saves from Cassidy Dobson.
