This past weekend, the Bearcats community came together in a powerful display of support for family members battling cancer. Players and coaches donned pink accents during the exhibition games, raising awareness and showing solidarity for those affected by the disease.
The initiative was inspired by heartwarming stories from within our Bearcats family, highlighting the courage of loved ones fighting cancer. Seeing everyone come together in pink was incredibly moving, it reminded us that we’re not just a team; we’re a family. Together, we can support those who need it most, on and off the ice!
This weekend rounded up our pre-season exhibition play with a 1-0 win over the Clarington Flames, the match had a standout performance by the opposing teams goalie and our own Peyton Bowers with a shutout! Bearcats goal scored by number 12, Kendyl Hunter.
The excitement continued into the next match, where the Bearcats faced strong Peterborough team. Despite a valiant effort and solid defensive play, they fell 1-0. The lone goal came in the second half, and although the Bearcats pushed hard for an equalizer, they couldn’t find the back of the net. Outstanding performance by Bearcats goalie Neve Scanlon, who worked hard keeping the team in the game all three periods!
Overall, the weekend was a testament to the team’s growth and determination as they prepare for the upcoming season. The players left the ice with their heads held high, ready to build on all that was learned!
