The Senior Belleville Bearcats, sponsored by Build All Contractors, captured the title in Cobourg this weekend at The Halloween Havoc tournament.
In Game 1, the Seniors defeated the host West Northumberland Wild Thursday Night to kick off the tournament. Goals: Hailey Snider, Becca Broadbent, Emma Dever & Sam Ward. Assists: Ward (2), Samm Fry & Hailey Robinson. Maddy Rowbotham had an impressive 29 saves in the win.
In Game 2, they suffered their lone loss of the weekend 1-0 to the North Simcoe Capitals, when their opponents buried home a lose puck with 24 seconds left in the game. Maddy Rowbotham was again impressive in net.
Game 3 the Seniors defeated the Brampton Canadettes 4-2. Goals went to Sarah Hardie, Raven Tabobandung, Dever and Broadbent. Assists: Halie Bradley, Rachel Cole, Sydney Ward, Fry & Robinson. Carina McEwen in net with the win.
It was win or go home in game 4 and the Seniors came out on top 3-0 over The Cobourg Sr. Ladies. Goals: Sydney Ward (2), Sam Hoover. Assists went to Fry and Maddy Rowbotham - who also posted a 26 save shutout.
In the Finals, it was a rematch vs a very talented North Simcoe Squad. The Bearcats came out on top with a 3-2 win on the 7th shooter of the shootout after 5 mins of sudden death 4v4 OT. Erin Cassibo with the shootout winner. Rowbotham was an impressive 7 and 0 in the shootout. Both Dever and Robinson had a goal and an assist each in regulation time.
