For the second time this season, the Build All Senior Bearcats are tournament champions!
Competing on home ice, the Senior Build All Bearcats returned to action after an extended Christmas break to capture the Belleville New Year Classic title in dramatic fashion Sunday night.
They kicked off the tournament Friday evening defeating the Kingston Ice Wolves 3-0. Maddy Rowbotham recorded the 24 save shut out. Sam Carey lead the offense with a goal and an assist. While Hannah Wilson and Steph Crosier rounded out the Belleville scoring. Kellee Smith and Tynika Williams both recorded assists.
Saturday, Bellville faced a strong Peterborough Ice Kats squad, who they've yet to defeat this season - losing 3-0. Carina Gordon was strong in net for Belleville.
Saturday night, the Seniors returned to the win column, defeating Carleton Place 6-1. Hailey Robinson, Halie Bradley and Kellee Smith each recorded a goal and an assist with Rachel Cole, Sam Ward and Steph Crosier rounding out the scoring. Becca Broadbent, Amanda Furmidge, Sam Carey and Erin Cassibo all added assists. Maddy Rowbotham recorded the win in net.
Sunday morning, Belleville defeated Smiths Falls 4-0. Kellee Smith had a goal and two assists, while Emma Dever had a goal and an assist. Rachel Cole and Steph Crosier rounded out the Bellville Scoring. Tynika Williams provided two assists, with Sarah Hardie adding the other. Carina Gordon took the shutout in net.
Sunday evening a rematch vs. Peterborough saw the Build All Seniors toppling the Ice Kats 4-3 in sudden death overtime, when Emma Dever broke in alone and scored a beautiful, unassisted top shelf goal a minute ten into the extra frame to capture the title. Halie Bradley opened the scoring with Dever and Hannah Wilson assisting. Samm Fry and Sam Ward added the other Belleville goals. Sam Carey, Becca Broadbent and Erin Cassibo supplied the assists. Maddy Rowbotham was stellar in net, turning away 35 Peterborough shots, taking the MVP of the final game.
